A Japanese electronic components manufacturer in Nuremberg is currently recruiting a German-speaking Field Application Engineer (FAE) specialising in connector products to support their client in Germany.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background with deep knowledge of electronics components (ideally connector solutions), as well as the ability to communicate complex engineering concepts fluently in German.
You will join an international work environment and work with their German client.
TYPE: Permanent, full-time
WORKING HOURS: 08:30 - 17:00 (Monday- Thursday) and on Fridays 08:30 - 16:00; including 30mins lunch break
SALARY: TBD
START: ASAP
LOCATION: Nuremberg, Germany (Currently 2 days in the office, 3 days’ work from home – this may change depending on the company’s decision.)

Field Application Engineer Main Responsibilities:
• Interface between customers, Sales, and HQ in Japan to ensure project commitments are met
• Support the Business Development Manager and Inside Sales as a technical expert
• Provide product recommendations during the design-in phase
• Guide customers on agency approvals and industry standards
• Build strong relationships with key customers' engineering staff
• Gather customer requirements during the project definition phase
• Coordinate internal projects for customer-specific programs
• Review specs and assist in developing new product specifications
• Prepare technical presentations using tools like PowerPoint, 3D-CAD, and simulations
• Support Marketing with product/application info for research and trends
• Help Marketing track trends and create product roadmaps
• Provide market/customer info for sales promotions and trade shows
• Assist QA with technical analysis of customer complaints
• Collaborate with HQ and factories on product development
• Participate in connector design and subcontractor selection
• Utilize CAD, simulations, and lab equipment for technical tasks
• Create weekly reports and summarise visits, trade shows, and conferences
• Monitor and report on projects monthly
• Conduct and establish internal training programs
• Attend a 2–4-week intensive training in Japan post-probation
• Perform additional duties as required by management
Field Application Engineer Ideal Candidate:
• A minimum of a bachelor engineering degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, mechatronics or higher qualification
• Several years of professional level engineering experience on connectors
• Additional design experience on similar products
• 2D and 3D CAD operations experience, best in CoCreate Modelling and SolidWorks
• Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and environmental testing
• Experience in mechanical and electrical manufacturing processes (injection moulding, punching, component placement, welding, automatic-optical inspection)
• Strong problem-solving capability on complex applications and technical issues
• Strong planning and organizational skills
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong presentation skills
• Willing to travel, international orientation
• Willing to learn and team player
• Totally fluent level German and good English
• Enjoys international environment and exchange with international colleagues and clients
• MS Office tools (Power Point, Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Willingness to visit clients if required and live within 40 km of the area (or willingness to move near Nuremberg)
