A Japanese Paint Manufacturer is currently recruiting a Protective Coating R&D Support Chemist to work in their Netherlands office.
In this role, you will be responsible for paint formulation, specifically Anticorrosive Paint. You will work within the Technical Department and manage not only formulation development but also quality improvement. You will work closely with various global key stakeholders, including the General Manager of Technology and various global offices, working to achieve the company’ strategic goals and deliver impactful results.
The ideal candidate should have a proven R&D background within the Anticorrosive Paint industry and drive to develop a career within a dynamic global environment

Protective Coating R&D Support Chemist Main Responsibilities:
• Product Innovation & Development
Formulate and develop new coatings and improve existing formulations in line with strategic goals.
• Testing & Analysis
Perform thorough testing on application properties within the laboratory, and occasionally on-site, to ensure products meet the highest standards of quality and performance.
• Production Collaboration
Maintain close communication with the production department to ensure a smooth transition from formulation to large-scale production.
• Sales Support
Act as a technical resource for the sales team, providing insights on product innovations and formulation advancements.
• Patent Participation
Support patent applications in collaboration with Regulatory Affairs, when applicable.
• Industry Tracking
Stay informed on market trends, technological advancements, and regulatory developments within the coating industry.
Protective Coating R&D Support Chemist Ideal Candidate:
● Previous experience in a paint manufacturing environment, ideally 10 years of experience at Anticorrosive Paint
● Bachelor’s degree in Organic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. Relevant industry experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
● Fluent in both English and Dutch, with strong communication skills in both languages.
● Stress-resistant, pragmatic, and energized by a dynamic work environment where quick, effective responses to unexpected situations are essential.
● Strong numerical skills, with a demonstrated ability to prioritize effectively, meet deadlines, and make data-driven decisions.
● Knowledge on raw material market in EU
● Knowledge on qualification testing in relation to standards as ISO12944, ACQPA and UNE
