A Japanese food wholesaler is currently recruiting a Buyer at their Dublin office. The Buyer will be working with suppliers in China and Japan and manage the procurement and logistics process. Also, you will collaborate with the team in the UK to develop new product ranges and improve existing product ranges, as well as keeping products in a winning position in both price and quality aspects compared with competitors’ lines.
Fluency in English is essential, and business level of Mandarin is highly advantageous.
TYPE: Permanent, full-time
WORKING HOURS: 9:00-17:30 from Monday to Friday
SALARY:
• Junior level: €30,000
• 2–3 years’ experience: €35,000 – €40,000
START: ASAP
LOCATION: Dublin, Ireland
Key Tasks/ Responsibilities for the Junior Buyer or Buyer
• To manage import operations, ensuring that all import documentation and certificates comply with current legislation
• To liaise with suppliers and monitor shipping schedules, delivery timelines, and incoming containers
• To resolve issues related to deliveries, including coordination with suppliers, the technical team (quality issues), and the warehouse
• To support the import arrangement team in resolving any supplier-related issues.
• To liaise with Sales Departments to obtain sales forecasts and customer feedback, managing demand and placing orders to avoid shortages or overstock
• To regularly review assigned items to identify potential risks or issues in supply and demand
• To manage and develop supplier relationships to achieve target business levels
• To obtain competitive quotations and terms from suppliers, and to source new products where required
• To assist in identifying and onboarding new suppliers when necessary
• To liaise closely with the Technical Department to ensure all products, ingredients, and manufacturers comply with legal requirements and food safety standards
• To collect and maintain accurate and up-to-date item data in SAP, in line with Purchasing procedures
The Junior Buyer or Buyer Ideal Candidate:
• Knowledge of Japanese food and beverage products
• Fluency in the English language
• Understanding or experience of procurement, logistics, buyer, or supply chain management is advantageous
• Mandarin and Japanese language skills are a highly advantageous
