A major Japanese trading company is currently recruiting an Assistant Manager to work in their Pan EU Food Department in Madrid, Spain.
In this role, you will provide commercial focus to the food related businesses in Spain by maintaining the current business, developing new income streams, and looking for investment opportunities.
Regular travel domestically and internationally will be required as well as supporting on site tours, negotiations, and entertaining food related business visitors.
Understanding of Japanese culture and some Japanese skill will be advantageous, and management experience will be necessary.

TYPE: Permanent, full-time
WORKING HOURS: 9:00-17:00 from Monday to Friday
SALARY: €33.9-€66k, depending on experience
START: ASAP
LOCATION: Madrid, Spain (Currently hybrid working – It may change depending on the company’s decision.)

ASSISTANT MANAGER MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Visiting suppliers and customers and negotiating contracts
• Supporting business visitors with site tours and commercial visits
• Maximizing commercial returns and ensuring the quality of relationships are maintained and developed by providing service excellence
• Being the first line manager for the back-office team in Madrid, working with the DGM as required
• Investigate the market looking for additional products and suppliers to grow the business
•Through networking and active communication, seek for investment opportunities in line with the policy

ASSISTANT MANAGER IDEAL CANDIDATE:
• Experience as a Manger with a background in food related business, especially in meat and olive oil
• International trade exposure (essential)
• Fluency to communicate in Spanish and English to a technical level
• Some understanding of Japanese culture and Japanese language would be advantageous
• Open minded, friendly, logical/creative, flexible, patient, passionate about developing relationships and partnering business models
• Frequent travel domestically and internationally will be required
• Skills of making quick decisions, solving problems, thinking ahead
• Communication on all levels internally / externally
• Team player and high attention to details
• Computer literacy (MS Office)
