A Japanese company providing industrial machinery and equipment is currently recruiting for an Certified Safety Manager (Sicherheitsbeauftragter) to join their newly building team in Dresden.
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety Manager to oversee all aspects of health, safety, and environmental compliance during the setup and operation of a new factory in Dresden, Germany. This role ensures that all safety protocols and regulatory requirements are strictly followed, helping to create a secure working environment for all employees.
TYPE : Full-time, 18 months contract(from July 2025 to December 2026)
WORKING HOURS : 8:30-17:00 (Mon-Fri, 5 days onsite, including 1 hour lunch break)
SALARY : up to EUR 75k (can consider more depending on experience)
START : 1st July 2025
LOCATION : Dresden, Germany
Safety Manager Main Responsibilities:
Safety Planning and Implementation:
• Develop, implement, and maintain health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures tailored to the factory's needs
• Ensure that all safety measures are integrated into the construction, installation, and commissioning processes of the factory
• Perform risk assessments to identify potential hazards and mitigate risks during factory setup and daily operations
Compliance with Legal Regulations:
• Ensure the factory complies with all relevant German and EU safety regulations, including occupational health standards (Arbeitsschutzgesetz)
• Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to ensure adherence to legal and organizational safety standards
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of safety regulations and best practices, and update policies accordingly
Training and Awareness:
• Organize and conduct safety training for employees, contractors, and management on relevant safety procedures, emergency response, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Promote a strong safety culture within the factory, ensuring all staff are aware of their roles in maintaining a safe working environment
Accident Prevention and Response:
• Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near-misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions
• Lead emergency response and evacuation drills, ensuring all staff are familiar with the procedures
• Provide ongoing monitoring and recommendations to improve accident prevention measures
Collaboration and Reporting:
• Collaborate with engineers, construction teams, and production staff to integrate safety into all phases of factory installation
• Liaise with external agencies, such as local regulatory bodies, to ensure compliance and address safety concerns
• Prepare regular reports on safety performance, incidents, and corrective measures for upper management
Equipment and Hazardous Materials Management:
• Oversee the safe installation and use of factory machinery and equipment
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials in compliance with safety and environmental regulations
Safety Manager Ideal Candidate:
• Certification of Sicherheitsbeauftragter or similar safety qualifications are required
• Minimum 5 years of experience in safety management, preferably in an industrial or factory environment
• In-depth knowledge of German health and safety regulations (e.g., Arbeitssicherheitsgesetz, Gefahrstoffverordnung)
• Fluency in both German and English is required
• Experience in safety management within new factory installations or large construction projects
